Parachinar Update
Parachinar Update

Not even two months have passed, and we have forgotten about the recent Parachinar incident. On 21st November, a convoy of travelers was going towards Parachinar from Peshawar road when it was attacked, and about 40 people were martyred there. After that, clashes started amongst local tribes, in which more than 150 people have been killed.
A ceasefire was declared, but the war does not stop, and to this day, the people of Parachinar are suffering because the road on which this attack took place is closed to this day. As a result, neither fuel nor food supplies and water are reaching there, and neither is there any medical facility.
The road leading to Parachinar has been closed for the last 67 days. The most difficult thing in Parachinar is for the sick and the patients. Now, there are no doctors and medicines in the hospital. Medicines are not available in the market either. Doctors are on strike right now due to a lack of medicines for the patients. The doctors themselves are facing a lot of trouble because parents of the patients request the doctor to prescribe the medicine for their children that is available in the market, but the doctors themselves are not able to prescribe those medicines to them in this situation of uncertainty. Deputy Commissioner of Kurram, Javed Masood, is saying that the Jirga between different tribal leaders has been going on for the last week, but till now they have not reached any agreement on opening the road. But it is quite clear that the local people of Kurram are not satisfied with these things. The cruelty is that neither the district administration nor the provincial administration is recognizing their responsibility. The Parachinar tragedy continues after 67 days as people are dying in hospitals and lack resources in continuation of the incident of the 21st November tragedy. A lot more have suffered in the protest of those martyrs, and the administration is awaiting the decision of the Jirga to be finalized. 9th May was declared a black day when, in protest, concrete structures were disrespected, and the media highlights it every day; politicians describe it as the tragedy for the nation, and in Parachinar the living, breathing creatures were butchered. The administration is at the mercy of the tribal Jirga, and after reporting the event, no one followed up or made efforts to restore order and stability in the region. The black day for us is every single day in such a state.
