Story Of Tipu Truckanwala And Company
Before the culture of guns and weapons, the physically strong used to dominate the surroundings and earn respect of the neighborhood. After the fall of the Mughal and Sikh dynasties, local Akhara fighters were physically strong and used to maintain their hold in their surroundings; thus, Pahalwan (Wrestler) was not limited to Akhara only, but the biggest crook of every region was also called Pahalwan.
In the 1950s, a Pahalwan named Nathu was very famous. He only drives a horse carriage, but his opinion is like that of a wrestler. Everyone is scared of him. He often gets into fights with people and everyone has to accept his decision. His decisions have made people his sworn enemies. He is not only a Pahalwan but a businessman of famous Shah Alam Chowk, which added to his reputation. One day, Nathu left Shah Alam Chowk for Lohari Masjid. He had just walked a little distance when suddenly someone attacked him with a dagger. Nathu fell down on the ground after repeated attacks and died there. Nathu left this world in agony.
Billa Truckanwala and start of the Enmity
It was not long before his son Amiruddin, alias famous Billa Truckanwala, took over his throne. Billa was way ahead of his father to increase his power Billa had contacts with police officers and local people, they come to their camps and hold panchayats to solve problems of locals who looked at him for justice. Billa was not a miser, he used to spend money like water, and his family already had a reputation in the global market. Billa started the business of goods transport here, which kept on expanding and from here he got the name Billa Truckanwala. Obviously, when he announced any decision, he made sure it was followed, creating friends and enemies likewise. His lifestyle was not ordinary, as his place was filled with pahalwans, gunmen, police officers, and other reputable businessmen, creating a reputation for himself known as “Dere Dar.”.
Billa Truckanwala never kept a pistol in his pocket all his life; that was not his style. He was not a traditional businessman, nor was he a bootlicker. He did not organize gambling or indulge in other criminal occupations. He made money from his legitimate business, though he was a Pahalwan and wanted his grip on the city. This story is not of Billa but of his son, whom the world knows as Tipu Truckanwala. The Truckanwala family is Kashmiri, in which many famous wrestlers have passed through this age. They have a big business of goods transport. There are hundreds of them all over the country.
Trucks moved around with goods, and business expanded and flourished. Billa Truckanwala formed a group with three friends. Elyas Jutt, who was a member of the provincial assembly from Faisalabad. Peela Pahalwan, who was a famous name in gold smuggling and was also a member of the provincial assembly, and SP Amanullah, who was unmatched in instigating people. These four, with their resources pooled in from politicians to businessmen and bureaucrats, made a powerful group. They used to organize daily gatherings at Billa Truckanwala’s Dera at Shah Alam Chowk. Now they started ruling Punjab. The Dera of Billa Truckanwala became a university where criminals were brought up. Now Billa had become the king of Lahore underworld. Every gang and every outlaw was within his reach. Shafiq alias Baba, Hanif alias Hanifa, Akbar Jutt, Humayun Gujjar, and many more.Big criminals like Bhola Sanihara were in his grasp.
Hanifa and Baba, both of whom were real brothers, were gangsters. Billa treated them dearly. They were his gunmen and used to receive rents and other monetary profits on his behalf. With a single signal, these people would do something that would make the area fear Billa; thats why they were kept. Baba and Hanifa were close friends of Tipu. Under the patronage of Billa Truckanwala, these two brothers used to commit petty crimes in the area. One day, both of them murdered a resident of Akbari Gate, Amiruddin Tara Wala, along with his two friends. When the case was filed, Billa’s son Tipu was also arrested along with Baba and Hanifa.
Billa cleverly got his son’s name removed from the list using his links and approach and told Baba and Hanifa to confess their crime right away and very soon they would be released from jail, but this did not happen. Baba and Hanifa were sentenced to six years in prison. Billa Truckanwala was also tired of their conduct, as they were becoming difficult to control. This created rift in the hearts of Baba and Hanifa, and they felt betrayed, which was used by the opponents of Billa Truckanwala. Here enters Teefi Butt and Gogi Butt of Gawal Mandi, who are the biggest enemies of the Truckanwala family. It is famous that both of them instigated Baba and Hanifa against Billa in jail. They made it clear in their hearts and minds that Billa saved his son but left you helpless in the jail, Gogi and Teefi were the masterminds who instigated Hanif and Baba that if you were his original and real children, he would have protected you like Tipu. Tipu murdered a man, you didn’t do it, so Tipu didn’t go to jail, he sent you to jail. If you keep this accusation with yourself, then you are not his real children. Then there is a difference between you and Tipu.
The goods coming from all over the country, including Punjab, were transacted in the markets of inner Lahore, and right in front of these markets was Billa Truckwala’s goods transport hub. The matter was filled with enmity and control over the markets, and it had reached the point of imposing terror in the city. Teefi and Gogi decided to eliminate Billa without Billa coming in front of them, as he was such a senior businessman than them, and Baba and Hanifa became pawns, burning in the fire of hatred. As soon as Baba and Hanifa got freedom from jail, they wanted to take revenge from Billa and Tipu at any cost. Teef And Gogi was just an idea. A dangerous group like Bhola Sanihara also joined them. Baba and Hanifa were just looking for an opportunity and they got it. One morning in 1994, when Billa Truckanwala was preparing for Fajr namaz at his dera, Baba and Hanifa, who were lying in wait, suddenly showered bullets on him. Billa Truckanwala did not get a chance to recover, and he was killed at his own dera.
Tipu Truckanwala ‘The Crowned Don Of Lahore’
Here begins the story of the Lahore underworld, which heated up the market of bloody enmity in Lahore. The death of his father made Tipu a wounded lion and he made his father’s camp a fortress and started answering enmity with enmity. Dozens of guards were always present at his camp with automatic weapons. Tipu was a wrestler, gangster, and lover of lions. He had also kept 10 lions at his dera. He was very sharp. He was very well aware of all the things happening around him. Since Tipu was completely illiterate, He had kept a person on duty to read the newspaper. He had a lot of meetings with all the top police officers; they played a big role in this enemity to fuel up. They used to sit on both sides after the murder of Billa Truckanwala; the burning fire of enmity extinguished the lights of many families. Whenever the guns cooled down, the hatred burning in their hearts would incite them again. Where earlier Billa Truckanwala used to have power and influence, now a full-fledged gang war had started. Humayun Gujjar, Naji Butt, Manazar Shah, Dawood, Nasir, Sana Gujjar, and many other famous outlaws of Punjab joined Teefi Butt one by one. Hanifa and Baba, who were once Tipu’s strength, were already in the ranks of Teefi Butt. Tipu was restless to take revenge for the murder of his father. Here Tipu put his wisdom into practice. Many people from Bhola Sanihara’s group also used to work for Tipu in a group, taking money. Local gangsters were flourishing in this area, especially in the inner city. Student leaders were growing. Both of them used to interlink themselves with them and break them to their sides because their grip was increasing. So the race for control of the city was on the rise, and both of them wanted to strengthen their camps. Tipu had learnt only one thing from his father: establish an influence and get the work done without coming in front. Adopting his father’s style, he started getting all his enemies killed one by one. For this, Tipu took the help of assassins and police encounters. Tipu proved to be more dangerous than Billa Truckanwala. First, he got Bhola Sanihara killed in Jamrud through an informer, then Nazir.
Traitors like Humayunyo Gujjar were also killed. Inspector Naveed shot them dead in a police encounter in Shahdara. Tipu neither spared Dawood Nasir of Teefi Butt nor Sana Gujjar. Next were Labba Moti Wala and Kalia. One by one, all were seen writhing in dust and blood. In the 90s, Tipu became the element of fear in the city. Teefi Butt was also not behind Tipu in the game of death. Both families were filthy rich; actually, the whole point of enemity was establishing one’s position and claiming the throne of Lahore, so both families spent crores of rupees in the fire of enmity. From SSP to constable, every person of the police became a part of this fight, and the whole city started burning. Everyone picked a side or played double role for money. This was the time when Inspector Abid Boxer’s police encounters, which became the highlight of the headlines, paid assassins were encountered one by one. Then Tipu and Teefi started filing cases against each other. It is said that their are principles of enmity. Their women were still saved from the enmity between Tipu and Teefi. Tipu crossed the red line when, through a friend in the police, he got Hanifa and Baba’s women kidnapped.
Hanifa and Baba went mad with anger when they saw their women being harmed. Now these two decided to teach a lesson to the son after the father. In 2003, when Tipu came for the hearing, a big murderous attack was made on him outside the Lahore court. This attack was executed by Mubeen Butt, due to which five of Tipu’s guards were killed and he himself was seriously injured. This was the famous shootout of Awan Adal; when he goes to the hearing, firing starts there. Five people are murdered on the spot. Well, bullets are being fired at Tipu, but he manages to run away to the magistrate’s court. Tipu escapes from there. The other five people die. Mubeen Butt, an amature gangster, didn’t know the severity of the attack he conducted and was eventually caught and encountered by the police. This was how many wannabe gangsters were used and killed in this enmity. Hanifa and Baba carried out many murderous attacks on Tipu but he escaped every time. Then there is an incident when, he is entering his Dera. Hanifa and Baba are sitting at a distance to attack. Now when Tipu comes in the range of his rifle, he sees Balaaj (Tipu’s son) is in his lap. At that time Hanifa held back, but after narrowly escaping in the 2003 attack, Tipu was now worried about his children. He shifted the family to Dubai, he himself left the country for some time and bought a hotel in Dubai. He got his three sons and one daughter educated outside the country. Tipu was not an ordinary man. He had hundreds of trucks and property worth billions of rupees in Lahore. It was impossible for him to leave all this. So he could not stay in Dubai for long.
Then he would meet his family on and off and come back to Lahore after some time. It was a night of 22 January 2010. Tipu was sitting in a flight from Dubai to Lahore, and someone was keeping an eye on his every move, he was being marked. In Lahore, five best-hired assasins were given a contract to kill a high-profile person. When they were told Tipu’s name, they started trembling, and all four folded their hands. But the fifth assasin, Khuram Ijaz Butt, agreed to kill Tipu alone. His brother was brutally killed by Tipu, and he wanted to take revenge for his brother at any cost. Personal grief and anger compelled him to agree to attack on Tipu, a similar plan Teefi Butt used earlier with the help of Baba and Hanifa. It is not allowed to carry weapons to the airport, but Khuram was given a pistol inside the airport. All the information was provided by a dancer, whose information brought Tipu to the brink of death. Her entire booking was done for the flight in which Tipu was to come. The planning was perfect, and information from every minute was communicated. When that flight got delayed, a message was conveyed, and when the flight landed at 15:45, she informed the contract killer. “Tipu had landed.”. He comes out and moves towards his vehicles in the parking lot. Khurram Butt was waiting there with his pistol and killed Tipu on the spot with gunshots. Tipu kept fighting for 48 hours in the hospital and then lost this battle.
Aftermaths and Balaaj’s Murder
He lost his life, but the enemy was still there. Tipu, on his way, passed on the 16-year-old enmity that started with the murder of his father to his 18-year-old son, Amir Balaaj. Balaaj had spent a major part of his life in Dubai, where he and his siblings studied in the best schools. After the murder of his father, Balaaj had to take charge of the business, but he wanted to finish the enmity his family inherited. Tipu always used to say that he would take revenge for his father. He could not do that. He died. His son used to say that he would take revenge for his father. So if he had to take revenge, then how could he not be killed? It was a dangerous track. After Tipu, the guns remained silent for some time, but the fire of enmity could not be cooled down. Amir Balaaj said in an interview that my father was murdered and the drum of enmity was put on my neck; it is my compulsion that I have to beat this drum.
Whenever Balaaj spoke of ending the enmity, someone would come in front of him and remind him of the murder of his father and grandfather. On the other hand, the Teefi Butt gang was afraid that Balaaj could harm them as he was getting powerful with time. They were not ready to believe that Tipu’s son could be sincere in ending the enmity. In 2016, the Butt gang occupied the lands, and then Balaaj became a wall. Here, he was given a message that if he does not get out of the way, then like his father, he will also be eliminated. When we go towards Teefi’s house, cameras are installed 1 km away. 1 km away in Naseerabad, Gulberg guards are standing there. Still, the incident of firing on his home took place, in which Balaaj was involved.
There is so much light there at night, no one can go there, no one can reach there. And if you ever see, you will not see the movement of Gogi or Teefi publicly or any of his other men. The life of Tipu’s kin was also in constant danger. If Balaaj ever left the four walls of his camp and went anywhere, a convoy of armed men would follow him. But this fort-like camp and the group of guards could neither save the life of grandfather nor that of father. Another death was written in the fate of the family. On 19 February 2024, in a private society in Lahore, in the wedding ceremony at DSP Akbar’s house. Policemen were standing at various places on the way for the wedding. Every person coming here has to pass through two security layers. Even bringing a needle was not allowed here. A photographer has been clicking pictures of people for a long time at the ceremony. He was sometimes seen on the stage, sometimes around the mess, near the guests, but his eyes were repeatedly on the entrance waiting for someone very anxiously.
For the past one month, someone has been keeping a close watch on his comings and goings. The bloodthirsty enemy was keeping reports of every moment. The cars loaded with gun-wielding guards carrying Amir Balaaj reached the wedding. When Amir Balaaj appeared in the thicket of guards like a prince, it seemed as if not only DSP Akbar but everyone was waiting for him. The photographer had also reached to take pictures. He tried to get close to Amir Baalaj many times, but the guards pushed him back. Finally, he succeeded in his aim. Balaaj was right in front of him. He was busy meeting his friends, unaware of the presence of the photographer. Suddenly the photographer threw the camera and took out a pistol from his clothes. On hearing the first shot, the guard fired a volley of bullets in return, but it was too late. Four bullets had hit Amir Balaaj. In a few moments, two lifeless bodies were lying on the ground; the whole carpet was soaked with blood. In the investigation, the police initially proved that his close friend Ahsan Shah was the mastermind behind this murder, teaming up with his enemies. In all three particular cases, the grandfather, the father and the son, in all three particular cases, their own people betrayed them and killed them. So, the people who were on the losing end were these people. This enmity of Billa Truckanwala is 30 years
old. During this period, three generations passed, and hundreds of people were burnt in the fire of enmity. From Billa to Balaaj, the Truckanwala family suffered the most in this fight. Amir Balaaj wanted peace but was killed. Balaaj’s brothers are also not in favour of continuing the enmity. The eldest one was Balaaj, the second one is Masab, and the third one is Fateh, and all of them are educated. At present, Masab is pursuing his case. With Balaaj’s murder, the years old enmity has come to life again. Already, brother-in-law of Teefi Butt was killed in broad daylight, and Masab is nominated in the murder. The end to the bloodshed doesn’t seem near, and bodies are piling on.
